mascara and cigs. classy.
as a female hiker myself, i'm ashamed to be in the same gender category as these two.
LOL. I love all the shit you guys stir up. The stuff on WB is classic. “As a female hiker myself….” LOL, I'm dying. Is that really how you define yourself there anonymous? Come on, and who are you to criticize anyone? I guess in your Utopia, everyone is just like you. How boring. Spread your negativity somewhere else. It was obviously a joke. I am betting she doesn't even smoke.
Ladies and Gent, keep on keeping on. I am enjoying the blog and the videos. If you don't mind, please give SOFAKING a shout out from MOUNTAINCHICKEN in one of the registers. He's still in Blacksburg wallowing in a bottle of liquor somewhere and leaving obscene posts on my FaceBook page. I am sure Blacksburg will spit him back out into the woods where he belongs soon enough.
MC
Hiking Group on FB
You all might enjoy. Started by a group of thru hikers in 2009.
MC, get over yourself. This “girl power” shit is a crock. There's no pride to be found in some obsession with “proving” yourself to the “boys” just cause you're female.
Let people do what they do and feel what they feel! Different strokes for different folks!
Hmm….might want to read the warnings on that cigarette pack. Those cancer sticks rack up quite a bill not only monetarywise but cutting your life short or at least making it even more challenging as you encounter unexpected health issues.
Gosh – I'm shocked at the negative comments on this post. I think you guys are awesome! I love your blog and have enjoyed following it this spring.
If you need anything as you pass through Shenandoah, feel free to contact us. (email address is on our blog) My husband and I live right outside the park and would be glad to help you resupply or give you a home-cooked meal.
To anonymous and Mark, these young people don't need any of your commentary about mascara, cigarettes, or girl power. They're adults and can do or think whatever they like. Rather than fault finding, we should all be supportive of what they have accomplished so far. I know I am very impressed. Stay the course young people. You are inspirational.
What's with using the unfortunate adjective “beast” for describing your friend? I think the city chick looks attractive and her obvious strength is a bonus. Hell, I'd date her in a minute.
Maybe they don't NEED it, but they did ASK for it. Repeatedly. So since they're all 'adults,' like you said, I'd guess they can probably handle it.
Hey Emmy, Nice ciggie + maskara combo. Looks good on you.
Jake and I went to a brew pub tonight for a date while my sister 'crazy aunt Jackie' babysat Chompy. We are now home, your brother is about 2ish sheets to the wind and Chompy is asleep on my lap. Good times.
We are trying to plan our summer and fit in some camping trips without breaking the bank and ruining Jake's study time. He is teaching a course in the fall so it's now or never in terms of his research.
Hope you have fun at trail days. Post more stuff. I will read it every day.
Christie
p.s. Don't worry about negative posts on this blog or anything. Bring on the crazy! I love this shit. My life is boring compared to the bonkerstown on White Blaze. I need something exciting.
Wow, It's funny to see all these people passing judgement on the three of you. I thing there's alot of jealousy, mixed with rage, and spite that you guys having a great time and doing it your way. You would think more would be happy for you, guess not… Hope you're having fun chump.
The two of you ladies are obviously very insecure in yourselves – If you're indeed strong, let your actions speak for themselves rather than sounding bitter and foolish. I really feel sorry for ya!
this emily chick is obnoxious.
Sorry, but I call BS on this particular installment. As a solo female hiker, I have never noticed that kind of “it's a man's place out here” attitude from hikers. Locals, once or twice. Folks back home, definitely. But not from the guys on trail. If someone was giving you dirty looks, it probably wasn't because of your gender. I'm guessing you brought a set of pre-conceived notions with you on the trip. Let it go! I have never felt the need to prove myself in order to be accepted by other hikers and neither should you.
That said, I wish you all the best out there. Keep having good times. Keep safe. Keep it real.
P.S. Since I have to post as anonymous here, you can find me on WB (shocker!) as fancyfeet. Cheers!
